Shop Update 8/5/13

I only just realised none of my shop update blog posts have made it through this month.
Oops!
Today's shop update is live.
There are some exciting self-striping sock yarns to feed your addiction, as well as some lovely tonals and highly variegated yarns.

But the most exciting news of them all? Minis are back! Many of you have asked when mini skeins are making a comeback, and they're finally here! You can choose to subscribe on a monthly basis by theme, or get a longer subscription at a discount.
There's no greater way to keep on hexipuffing, set up your own stripes, or try out some bases with teeny projects.
How do you use your minis?

Feelin' Blue Socks

I finished another pair of socks! They're not for me though, they're for the Boy, when he travels to the cold (and lonely) capital.
They even come with extra cat love!

The colourway was an experimental one I did on one of my yarns. now I just need to figure out how to recreate it, of course...

Good thoughts and long-distance hugs

My grandma is 90 years old and not doing so well at the moment.
She also lives right around the world from me.
I can't call her, since we're both no good on the phone, and the hearing issues don't help.
But I can knit.
I can knit her a squishy, comforting shawl made out of cheery, stripey Australian wool that she can wrap around herself to remind herself that she is loved, however long-distance.
I also knit this shawl on needles I inherited from her.
I hope she gets to enjoy the shawl. I hope she likes it.

Bumblebee Socks

It's getting cold here, and I have a ball of my first-ever overdyed DK yarn sitting here begging to be thick, squishy socks.
Bumblebee socks!

They knit up super quickly at just 48 stitches around, and I thought I'd try something new. An afterthought heel is de rigueur for striping yarns to keep them in sequence.
After my first attemt, I must say I'm not a fan. Sure, it's convenient. but they just don't fit.
Maybe I need to try these again in a less straight-forward way, but for now, they just didn't work out.
Still nice socks though.
